The measurements are based on the GC (gas chromatography) technique. A sample, in the gaseous or vaporized state, is taken from ambient air or from an industrial process. The different elements are separated and analyzed by means of a PID and / or FID detector. This instrument monitors many compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, CH4, vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, ozone precursors, chlorinated elements and many other compounds.


Environmental and industrial safety authorities demand increased vigilance from professionals, particularly regarding carcinogenic and highly toxic products. Many companies have to measure these high-risk gases, present in low concentrations (at ppb level), in order to verify compliance with the personnel exposure limit values ??for the benefit of their personnel on site and in the vicinity. Other major concerns for industrialists are the security of assets (fire, explosion), improvement of production processes and compliance with industrial emissions. Measurements can be made upstream of the treatment plants to determine whether they need to be treated upstream and / or downstream in order to verify the effectiveness of the decontamination process before rejection. In addition to a SYNSPEC GC, the SYNSPEC purge and separation system, recovers hydrocarbons in raw and potable water for on-line measurement. The main advantage of this online measurement compared to laboratory analysis is direct access to the measurement results.
